In this experiment Mrs. Vanasse's 5th grade class used water, ice and salt.
The first thing we did was put a piece of ice in a Ziploc bag and see how long it took
to melt.
Then we put it in a container
filled with ice water and salt.
After we put the supplies in the container,
we took the temperature and recorded it.
Then we closed the container and carefully shook it for five minutes.
We recorded the temperature.
We looked in our bag and recorded what we saw. We then put the bag back in and
carefully shook for another 5 minutes.
After we were done shaking, we recorded the temperature.
Then we looked at our plastic bag and recorded our observations again. We explained what happened and why we thought it happened.
When this experiment was done we were so surprised when we opened the container. It was AMAZING! The water went from ice to water to ice crystals to almost hard ice.
This experiment was fun!
