Acids and Bases
by Carissa, Jenn, Ebony, Alysha, and Ania
These pictures show how we experimented with purple cabbage juice to see if the substances are acids or bases. In the first picture we mixed the purple cabbage juice with vinegar. It turned pink so vinegar is an acid. In the second picture we mixed baking soda with cabbage juice. It turned blue so the baking soda is a base. In the bottom picture we mixed the acid and base together. It made lots of bubbles as it turned back to the color of the cabbage juice.
The poster on the right was done by a 5th grader in Mrs. Kwolek's class. We had fun doing this experiment.
